The Role of Apprentice Plant/Mechanical Fitter:

We have an excellent opportunity for the right candidate looking to start a career path in technical maintenance within the Plant Hire Industry. Joining our Plant Operations Team at our Grangemouth Depot you will work to gain the skills, experience and knowledge required to achieve a Modern Apprenticeship SCQF Level 6 in Plant Maintenance.

During the 4-year period of the Apprenticeship, the company will undertake to instruct, train or place the apprentice under the supervision of a fully qualified and/or experienced Plant Fitter to allow them to acquire the necessary skills and techniques.

The Company will monitor the on-the-job and theoretical work on a regular basis throughout the period of the apprenticeship and do all it can to support the successful candidate. You will also attend one of our CITB approved training centre's/colleges a set intervals as instructed by the CITB.

The key learning/job task areas for our new apprentice will include the following:

  • To assist in the service, repair, and maintenance of all Jarvie Plant equipment
  • Complete jobs allocated by workshop supervisor and finish of outstanding jobs from previous day..
  • Complete job sheets and any other necessary paperwork with supervisor authority.
  • Assist with cleaning of machines and vehicles when necessary.
  • Ensure that your working environment is clean, tidy and safe at all times.
  • Seek assistance and raise any issues to the workshop supervisor or manager.
  • You will learn the skills required to assist the Fitters to produce accurate documentation and records of plant machinery maintenance, repairs and safety checks

  • A understanding of the importance of organising, prioritising job tasks with the ability to time manage multiple tasks
  • Basic knowledge of mechanic (advantage)
