Our Manchester depot has been busy supplying a wide range of plant, accommodation and vehicles to a growing number of satisfied customers throughout North West England. Their projects have been diverse in scope and scale. Here are just a few of our recent customer success stories.
Heritage warehouse conversion in busy Manchester city centre location
Our building and renovation customer is converting a bonded warehouse, a listed building, in Manchester city centre into luxury apartments and townhouses.
After discussions with them about their specific needs and the unique complexities of this historic site, we provided a tailored package of accommodation units, a generator to power the site and small dumper and excavator to work in tight and confined areas. We have also supplied an 18m telehandler to allow materials to be landed at height. All the equipment was delivered from our depot in Manchester.
With space on site very limited due to its location on an extremely busy street in the city centre, we delivered the accommodation units on a Saturday morning in order to cause the least amount of disruption to traffic and pedestrians.
We also proposed double-stacking the accommodation units to enable our customer to make the most of the restricted space available to them.
Wigan police station re-design and development
Our new build and renovation customer was re-designing a former police station, which dates back to around 1900, in Wigan to develop eight houses on the site. Having obtained new planning permissions, our customer had decided to convert the landmark building into four homes and construct a further four properties elsewhere on the site.
We discussed their project with them to understand how we could help. Initially we supplied a 14m telehandler and a 5 tonne excavator from our depot in Manchester, with more equipment, including a 16m artic boom, being delivered at each stage of the project’s lifecycle.
Previous attempts to resurrect the old station, and convert it to offices or a children’s nursery, faltered. We are proud to see it come to life again as a residential development.
Upmarket housing in three North West England locations
Our customer, a groundworks contractor, is working on three prestigious residential property developments in Crosby, Handforth and St Helens.
Following dialogue with them about their site requirements, they hired their static welfare and office setups from our Manchester depot. The welfare units supplied are self-contained units providing power, heat, light, mess facilities and toilet.
We also support them with a weekly servicing facility on these units to keep them in top condition for everyone using them.
Rough terrain forktrucks
Our customer, a cladding company based in North West England, has hired a number of rough terrain forktrucks from us for various sites right across the region, as far south as Welshpool on the Shropshire / Welsh border.
Our customer needed all these machines on a long-term basis, a requirement which our Manchester depot has been able to accommodate.
