Covanburn Contracts, working with Morgan Sindall, are carrying out rail improvement works at Polmont Train station in conjunction with Network Rail.
Part of the works involves tarring both sides of the platform but they only have access to one side. They therefore had to find a solution for transferring the tar from one side of the platform to the other without the need for any excessive manual handling. This was due to the time constraints placed on them as they were only able to work nightshifts when the trains were not running.
After discussing their requirements with Jarvie Plant it was decided that a 25m Rotational Telehandler complete with Self Tipping hopper was the best solution. This was the only machine with the required boom length and safety features that could effectively carry out the job at hand.
After its success on the first phase of works, Covanburn have taken the Roto back on hire to finish the works at the station. They have decided that moving forward this will be the machine they will use for all jobs of this nature and that Jarvie Plant will be their principle supplier for this.
